A Benefit for Analy High School Music Program!

Sebastopol, CA, January 30, 2020: A Benefit for Analy High School Music Program featuring The King Street Giants and The Analy High School Jazz Band to be held on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at The Mystic Theatre! No trumpet required.” For the past 7 years the Sonoma County-based group, The King Street Giants, have brought their own special version of New Orleans music to the Bay Area. Whether they’re playing in clubs or on the streets, The King Street Giants are infamous for radiating an infectious energy and always having a blast. While continuing to play the music of their heroes (Louis Armstrong & The All Stars, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Thelonious Monk, Vulfpeck), they have also been writing original music in an effort to continue to evolve the idiom of Traditional New Orleans Jazz. The King Street Giants have shared the stage with such acts as Bonnie Raitt, Galactic, Rebirth Brass Band, The Wood Brothers, Charlie Musselwhite, New Orleans Suspects, Tuba Skinny, Dustbowl Revival, and many more. Their sounds have been heard at Strawberry Music Festival, Petaluma Music Festival, San Jose Jazz Fest, Healdsburg Jazz Fest, Sausalito Arts Festival, Lagunitas Beer Circus and Honk Fest West, and have appeared at events and in commercials for the San Francisco Giants. Winners of the North Bay Bohemian's "Best of" Best Band in Sonoma County award in 2017, The King Street Giants are putting the finishing touches on their 3rd studio album, 4th in total, aiming for a Spring 2020 release. Analy High School Jazz Band Playing a mix of contemporary and traditional jazz, this band regularly performs at local fundraisers and events, and participates in jazz festivals throughout Northern California. The Jazz Band meets before school at 6:45am daily and is comprised of dedicated students of all ages. Director Casey Jones has played the clarinet for about 20 years and performed in community bands, orchestras, and professional groups alike. He has studied with Roy Zajac of the Santa Rosa Symphony and has taken lessons from jazz greats such as Dr. Michael White and Anat Cohen. He is also the clarinet player of the King Street Giants. Their sounds have been heard at Strawberry Music Festival, Petaluma Music Festival, San Jose Jazz Fest, Healdsburg Jazz Fest, Sausalito Arts Festival, Lagunitas Beer Circus and Honk Fest West, and have appeared at events and in media for the San Francisco Giants. The King Street Giants most recent album of instrumental originals titled "Dressed & Ready to Go" came out in February, 2017 and they hope to release another original album by the spring of 2020. Mr. Jones is honored and excited to share music making with the students of Analy High School and Brookhaven Middle School.
